Matthew is a senior underwriter and a member of Sovereign’s Management Committee. He leads a Bermuda-based underwriting team and is responsible for managing several key banking relationships, as well as developing new business opportunities and prospective clients. His focus includes political risk insurance and complex opportunities, particularly in the private equity sector. Matthew has extensive experience with both political risk and non-payment products, collaborating with a diverse range of Sovereign’s clients and brokers. In addition to his underwriting duties, he actively represents Sovereign at marketing meetings and events.

Matthew joined Sovereign in 2012, initially serving as an Assistant Underwriter and Country Analyst in Bermuda. He gained underwriting authority in 2015 and spent seven years as an underwriter in the London market. He is currently based in Bermuda.

Matthew graduated from James Madison University in Virginia in 2012 with a degree in International Relations and also holds a graduate certificate in Trade Finance from Middlesex University in London.
